siParadigm Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating siParadigm, LLC regarding its recent data breach. The siParadigm data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information belonging to over 26,000 individuals.

ABOUT SIPARADIGM, LLC:

siParadigm is a laboratory and testing company based in New Jersey. Founded in 2004, siParadigm provides laboratory and diagnostic services to patients, physicians, and healthcare providers. Today, siParadigm’s test menu achieves maximum coverage for potentially actionable aberrations such as: Single Nucleotide Variants (SNVs) , Insertions & Deletions (InDels), Copy Number Variants (CNVs), Gene Fusions (RNA), Splice Variants (RNA), Somatic and germline Homologous Recombination Deficiency (HRD) and Loss of Heterogeneity (LOH) for Specific genomic signatures: Tumor Mutation Burden (TMB) and Microsatellite Instability (MSI).4 Additionally, siParadigm’s testing methodologies encompasses all major technologies for tissue-based and liquid biopsy testing of solid tumor and hematologic cancers as: IHC, Targeted or Broad-Panel DNA- and RNA-based, FISH, Cytogenetics, Flow Cytometry and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).4 Headquartered in Pine Brook, New Jersey, siParadigm employs over 200 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, siParadigm reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on June 11, 2024, siParadigm identified suspicious activity within its computer network. As a result, siParadigm launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, siParadigm determined that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized actor during the incident. As a result, siParadigm began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Date of birth
  • Medical information

 

On September 18, 2024, siParadigm began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, siParadigm is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
