WHAT HAPPENED?
On August 17, 2024, Microchip detected suspicious activity within its information technology systems. In response, Microchip began an investigation to determine the nature of scope of the incident. On August 19, 2024, Microchip determined that an unauthorized party disrupted Microchip’s use of certain servers and some business operations.1 As a result of the incident, certain Microchip manufacturing facilities are operating at less than normal levels, and Microchip’s ability to fulfill orders is currently impacted.1
On August 20, 2024, Microchip reported the incident in a Form 8-K filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission. As of August 28, 2024, Microchip’s investigation is ongoing and whether personal information has been exposed has not been made publicly available by Microchip.
