Since then, Carefree of Colorado has continued to specialize and market awnings for RVs and homes while diversifying its product line into additional RV accessories. These accessories include sunshades, ground blankets, canopy clamps, side visors, and more. Headquartered in Broomfield, Colorado, Carefree of Colorado operates an additional facility in Elkhart, Indiana, and conducts business with numerous RV dealerships throughout the United States, Canada, Asia, and Europe.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Carefree of Colorado experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. Through its investigation, Carefree of Colorado determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed this sensitive information by launching a ransomware attack on April 27, 2022. On February 22, 2023, Carefree of Colorado began contacting individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of information has not been disclosed by Carefree of Colorado. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial information
  • Medical information
  • Taxpayer information
  • Personal identification number issued by the United States IRS
