Maxxis Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Maxxis International (“Maxxis”) regarding its recent data breach. The Maxxis data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT MAXXIS INTERNATIONAL:

Maxxis is a global tire manufacturing company based in Georgia. Founded in 1967, Maxxis offers a variety of tire products, including tires for bicycles, automobiles, light trucks, ATVs, motorcycles, trailers, and more. Today, Maxxis distributes its products in more than 180 countries and has operations in Asia, North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Australia.2 Headquartered in Suwanee, Georgia, Maxxis employs over 30,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

On May 29, 2023, Maxxis discovered that it had experienced a data beach in which sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. In January 2024, Maxxis began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Maxxis. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or state-issued identification number
  • Financial information (e.g., financial account number, credit or debit card number)
  • Medical record information
  • Taxpayer identification number
  • Identity protection personal identification number
