WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, JJE Capital reported to the Attorney General of South Carolina that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on February 22, 2024, JJE Capital discovered that it was the victim of a ransomware attack. As a result, JJE Capital launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, JJE Capital learned that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized actor. As a result, JJE Capital began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On June 17, 2024, JJE Capital completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
On August 5, 2024, JJE Capital began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to South Carolina residents, JJE Capital is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
