Founded in 2003, Boombah outfits and equips baseball, basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer and volleyball teams all across the United States.2 Today, Boombah has expanded its brands, designing and developing products including apparel, equipment, footwear, bags, and accessories.2 In 2016, Boombah opened two factories in the Dominican Republic, moving its apparel and uniform production from Asia to the Dominican Republic.2 Headquartered in Yorkville, Illinois, Boombah has additional offices in St. Louis, Missouri and Melbourne, Florida, and employs over 400 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Boombah reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on July 6, 2024, Boombah discovered suspicious activity on its systems. As a result, Boombah launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Boombah learned that sensitive personal information may have been viewed or taken from its network. As a result, Boombah began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- HIPPA protected information (e.g., health/medical information, health insurance information)
On July 31, 2024, Boombah began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Boombah is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
