Home Federal Bank Data Breach Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Home Federal Bank reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, Home Federal Bank recently detected a data security incident that impacted the personal information of its customers.

As a result, Home Federal Bank began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. This review was completed on June 26, 2024. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Financial account information

 

Accordingly, Home Federal Bank began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Home Federal Bank is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific type of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
