BioMatrix is an independent specialty infusion pharmacy based in Florida. Founded in 2001, BioMatrix provides injected and infused medications not found in a typical pharmacy.3 Due to the high level of care needed to manage these complex medications and the conditions they treat, BioMatrix offers an array of services to patients, from prescription intake and insurance clearance to medication delivery, training, and beyond.3 Today, BioMatrix’s different infusion services include immunoglobulin (IG), transplant therapy, individual support for bleeding disorders, and biologic and biosimilar medication therapy. Headquartered in Plantation, Florida, BioMatrix has eight additional locations across the United States and employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
On or about December 13, 2023, BioMatrix discovered that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, BioMatrix determined that an unauthorized third party accessed this sensitive information between December 6 and December 8, 2023. On February 9, 2024, BioMatrix began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of personal information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Email address
- Medical information (e.g., date of service, prescriptions, over-the-counter supplies)
