Founded in 2003, Urban Strategies has a mission to connect, resource, and equip faith- and community-based organizations to serve children and families in need.2 The programs of Urban Strategies include offering free childcare for children under three years, youth development curriculums for teens, assisting individuals acquire H2 visas, and a cohort program specifically created for Latino/a pastors and ministry leaders.1 Headquartered in Virginia, Urban Strategies employs over 500 people.2

WHAT HAPPENED?

On March 13, 2024, Urban Strategies discovered it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information may have been accessed and acquired. Through its investigation, Urban Strategies determined that an unauthorized third party accessed its computer systems on February 22, 2024, and encrypted and acquired certain files between then and March 13, 2024. Recently, Urban Strategies began notifying individuals whose information may have been impacted. The type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name;
  • Address;
  • Social Security number;
  • Date of birth;
  • Passport number;
  • Driver’s license number;
  • Financial account number;
  • Health insurance information; and
  • Medical information.
