Pinnacle Holdings Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Pinnacle Holdings, LTD (“Pinnacle”) regarding its recent data breach. The Pinnacle data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Pinnacle is a healthcare consulting firm based in Colorado. Founded in 1998, Pinnacle provides a range of consulting and business services to healthcare organizations and law firms, including compensation valuation, transaction support services, cost reduction, compliance and enterprise risk, revenue cycle solutions, and more.2,3 Clients served by Pinnacle include hospitals, medical practices, life science companies, law firms, digital health and technology companies, private equity, nonprofit organizations, ambulatory surgery centers, etc. Headquartered in Centennial, Colorado, Pinnacle employs over 200 individuals and provides services across 20 states.2

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Pinnacle announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, on November 25, 2024, Pinnacle experienced a network disruption that impacted certain systems.1 As a result, Pinnacle launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Pinnacle confirmed that sensitive personal information in its network related to its patients may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party between November 11 and November 25, 2024. As a result, Pinnacle began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Address
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Driver’s license/state ID number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical diagnosis/treatment information
  • Prescription information
  • Date of service
  • Patient ID number
  • Provider name
  • Medical record number
  • Medicare/Medicaid number
  • Health insurance information
  • Health insurance claim number
  • Health insurance policy number
  • Treatment cost information

 

As a result of the breach, Pinnacle posted notice of the breach on its website. Based on the website breach notice, Pinnacle is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
