Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Ariel Clinical Services (“Ariel”) regarding its recent data breach. The Ariel data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.
ABOUT ARIEL CLINICAL SERVICES:
Ariel is a nonprofit individual and family services organization based in Colorado. Founded in 1994, Ariel offers a variety of services to adults, including residential and vocational services, behavioral services, and adult I/DD therapy.2 Additionally, Ariel specializes in child and family services such as family therapy, adoption, traditional and therapeutic foster care, and more.3 Headquartered in Grand Junction, Colorado, Ariel has four additional locations in Colorado and employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Ariel reported to the Attorney General of Montana that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on July 28, 2025, Ariel experienced unusual activity related to certain employee email accounts.1 As a result, Ariel launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Ariel confirmed that sensitive personal information and protected health information in certain employee email accounts may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party on July 25, 2025, and July 28, 2025. As a result, Ariel began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial card number with access code
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
On December 5, 2025, Ariel began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Montana residents, Ariel is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
