SAX LLP Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating SAX LLP (“SAX”) regarding its recent data breach. The SAX data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 225,000 individuals.

SAX is an accounting, tax, and advisory firm based in New Jersey. Today, SAX operates under several divisions and offers its services to industries such as healthcare, construction, and real estate.2 Headquartered in Parsippany, New Jersey, SAX employs over 200 individuals and has additional locations in New Jersey and New York.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, SAX reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on August 7, 2024, SAX was alerted to suspicious activity in its.1 As a result, SAX launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, SAX confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, SAX began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license or state identification number
  • Passport number

 

On December 16, 2025, SAX began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, SAX is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
