Coastal Carolina Health Care Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Coastal Carolina Health Care, PA (“CCHC”) regarding its recent data breach. The CCHC data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

CCHC is a primary care provider based in North Carolina. Founded in 1998, CCHC provides a range of healthcare services to patients, including cardiology, critical care, family medicine, psychiatry, orthopedics, neurology, internal medicine, and more.2,3,4 Headquartered in New Bern, North Carolina, CCHC employs over 70 individuals and operates more than 20 additional locations.5,6

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, CCHC reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on March 28, 2025, CCHC became aware of unusual activity that disrupted access to certain systems.1 As a result, CCHC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, CCHC confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party between March 21 and March 27, 2025. As a result, CCHC began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Protected health information

 

On March 23, 2026, CCHC began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, CCHC is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
