Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Anderson Bancshares, Inc., which does business as Anderson Brothers Bank (“Anderson Brothers”), regarding its recent data breach. The Anderson Brothers data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 3,200 individuals.

Anderson Brothers is a community bank based in South Carolina. Founded in 1933, Anderson Brothers offers a range of financial services for individuals and businesses, including checking and savings accounts, home and auto loans, online banking, commercial loans, and more.2,3 Headquartered in Mullins, South Carolina, Anderson Brothers employs over 200 individuals and operates 25 branches across South Carolina.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Anderson Brothers reported to the Attorney General of South Carolina that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, Anderson Brothers learned that an unauthorized third party gained access to and obtained data that was maintained by a vendor for Anderson Brothers, Marquis.1 As a result, Marquis launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Marquis confirmed to Anderson Brothers that sensitive personal information in its systems related to Anderson Brothers customers may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Marquis began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. As of December 8, 2025, the type of information impacted in the breach has not been made publicly available by Anderson Brothers. However, according to South Carolina state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number or state identification card number issued instead of a driver’s license
- Financial account number, or credit card or debit card number in combination with any required security code, access code, or password
- Other numbers or information which may be used to access a person’s financial accounts or numbers or information issued by a governmental or regulatory entity that uniquely will identify an individual
As a result of the breach, Anderson Brothers began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to South Carolina residents, Anderson Brothers is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
