Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating The Money Coach, LLC, which does business as Money Matters, regarding its recent data breach. The Money Matters data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to over 1,500 individuals.

Money Matters is a financial service provider based in Florida. Today, Money Matters offers a variety of financial management services to individuals, including retirement planning, real estate and insurance strategies, investment and estate planning, and income tax strategies.2 Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, Money Matters has an additional office in Gadsden, Alabama and employs over 30 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Money Matters reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on July 5, 2025, Money Matters noticed unusual activity on its computer system.1 As a result, Money Matters launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Money Matters confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and obtained by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Money Matters began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
On November 3, 2025, Money Matters began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Money Matters is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
