Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Sedgebrook OpCo SL VII LLC (“Sedgebrook”) regarding its recent data breach. The Sedgebrook data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Sedgebrook is a retirement community company based in Illinois. Founded In 2006, Sedgebrook operates a senior living community that provides residents with a range of services and amenities, including a pool, art studio, walking trails, dining options, wellness programs, medical service, nursing, rehabilitation, and more.3,4 Headquartered in Lincolnshire, Illinois, Sedgebrook employs over 50 individuals.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Sedgebrook announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, on May 5, 2025, Sedgebrook detected suspicious activity within its computer network.1 As a result, Sedgebrook launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Sedgebrook confirmed that sensitive personal information and protected health information in its network may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized third party between May 4 and May 5, 2025. As a result, Sedgebrook began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account number
- Medical treatment information
- Medical record number
- Health insurance policy information
On October 24, 2025, Sedgebrook will begin mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Additionally, Sedgebrook posted notice of the data breach on its website.
