WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Cohn Lifland reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or about March 27, 2025, an unauthorized party gained access to Cohn Lifland’s internal network.1 As a result, Cohn Lifland launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Cohn Lifland confirmed that the sensitive personal information and protected health information in its network may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach.1 As a result, Cohn Lifland began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:4
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial account information
- Medical record information
As result of the breach, Cohn Lifland began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
