WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Lincoln University announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, on October 9, 2024, Lincoln University became aware of a disruption to its computer network.1 As a result, Lincoln University launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Lincoln University confirmed that the sensitive personal information in its network may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach.1 As a result, Lincoln University began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or state identification card number
- Passport number
- Individual taxpayer identification number
- Date of birth
- Student identification number
On October 7, 2025, Lincoln University posted notice of the data breach on its website. Based on the website breach notice, Lincoln University is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the website breach notice is below.
