Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating the Institute of Culinary Education (“ICE”) regarding its recent data breach. The ICE data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 33,300 individuals.

ICE is a culinary school based in New York. Founded in 1975, ICE provides a range of training programs in culinary disciplines and hospitality, including programs in culinary arts, pastry & baking, culinary management, and hospitality management, as well as continuing education programs for culinary professionals.3 In addition to professional programs, ICE offers recreational cooking, baking and wine education courses.3 Headquartered in New York, New York, ICE employs over 50 individuals and operates an additional campus in Los Angeles, California.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, ICE announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, ICE became aware of suspicious activity related to its systems.1 As a result, ICE launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, ICE confirmed that the sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized third party on or around May 5, 2025.1 As a result, ICE began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- US alien registration number
As a result of the breach, ICE posted notice of the data breach to its website. Additionally, on September 26, 2025, ICE began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, ICE is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the website breach notice is below.
