Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Platinum Federal Credit Union (“PFCU”) regarding its recent data breach. The PFCU data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Founded in 1999, PFCU offers a full line of financial products and services, including checking and savings accounts, business accounts, home lending, and financial education.2 Today, PFCU has over 12,000 members and assets in excess of $300 million.3 Headquartered in Duluth, Georgia, PFCU employs over 50 individuals and has additional locations in Alabama and Florida.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, PFCU reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on March 27, 2025, PFCU discovered unusual activity involving one of its employee’s email accounts.1 As a result, PFCU launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, PFCU confirmed that sensitive personal information in its employee’s email account may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, PFCU began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial account information
On September 24, 2025, PFCU began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, PFCU is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
