Eckerd Connects Data Breach Investigation

Founded in 1968, Eckerd Connects provides support to individuals, families, and communities through a range of social services, including workforce development programs, Job Corps, foster care, homelessness prevention programs, functional family therapy, prevention services, and more.2,3 Headquartered in Clearwater, Florida, Eckerd Connects employs over 1,000 individuals and offers services in 20 states and the District of Columbia.3,4

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Eckerd Connects announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice shared on its website, on or around November 11, 2024, Eckerd Connects observed suspicious activity within its network environment.1 As a result, Eckerd Connects launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its ongoing investigation, Eckerd Connects has confirmed that the sensitive personal information and protected health information in its care may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach.1 As a result, Eckerd Connects began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Medical information (medical condition, treatment, or diagnosis information)
  • Health insurance information

 

On September 26, 2025, Eckerd Connects posted notice of the data breach to its website. Based on the website breach notice, Eckerd Connects is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted.1 A link to the website breach notice is below.
