WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Caldwell reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, Caldwell recently experienced an incident involving unauthorized access to its computer network.1 As a result, Caldwell launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Caldwell confirmed that the sensitive personal information in its computer network may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between August 4 and August 8, 2025.1 As a result, Caldwell began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
On September 23, 2025, Caldwell began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice being sent to Maine residents, Caldwell is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services. 1 A link to the letters that Caldwell filed with the Attorney General of Maine is below.
