WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, UFCW Local 7 reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on December 11, 2024, UFCW Local 7 discovered suspicious activity in its network.1 As a result, UFCW Local 7 launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, UFCW Local 7 confirmed that the sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized third party on December 10, 2024.1 As a result, UFCW Local 7 began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On August 21, 2025, UFCW Local 7 completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On September 22, 2025, UFCW Local 7 began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
