Teamsters Union 25 Health Services & Insurance Plan Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Teamsters Union 25 Health Services & Insurance Plan, which does business as TeamstersCare (“TeamstersCare”) regarding its recent data breach. The TeamstersCare data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to over 19,000 individuals.6

TeamstersCare is a multi-employer insurance benefit fund based in Massachusetts. Serving Teamster Local 25 members, retirees, and their families, TeamstersCare provides health and welfare benefits as well as clinical services.2,3 The in-house clinical services offered by TeamstersCare include dental, mental health, audiology, and pharmacy services. 3 Headquartered in Charlestown, Massachusetts, TeamstersCare employs over 50 individuals and provides benefits to approximately 18,000 eligible plan participants.3

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, TeamstersCare announced that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on August 1, 2025, TeamstersCare identified unauthorized activity within its network.1 As a result, TeamstersCare launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, TeamstersCare confirmed that sensitive personal information and protected health information of clients in its system may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, TeamstersCare began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On August 18, 2025, TeamstersCare completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes: 1

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Health information
  • Health insurance information
  • Member ID

 

On September 3, 2025, TeamstersCare posted notice of the breach on its website. Additionally, TeamstersCare began mailing data breach notification letters to impact individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, TeamstersCare is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services. 4 A link to the website breach notice is below.
