WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Absolute Dental announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on February 26, 2025, Absolute Dental became aware of a potential issue involving the organization’s information systems.1 As a result, Absolute Dental launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Absolute Dental confirmed that sensitive personal information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between February 19 and March 5, 2025. As a result, Absolute Dental began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On July 28, 2025, Absolute Dental completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Passport information
- Health insurance information, such as explanation of benefits
- Health information, such as history, treatment, diagnosis, and patient identification number
As a result of the breach, Absolute Dental posted notice of the breach on its website. Based on the website notice, Absolute Dental is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the Absolute Dental breach notice is below.
