The Tungsten Automation data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to over 5,500 individuals.

Tungsten Automation is a software development company based in California that specializes in workflow automation. Founded in 1985, Tungsten Automation provides businesses with solutions to automate data-intensive business workflows, including software aimed at optimizing business processes, enhancing AP and invoice workflows, or improving document automation and security. 2 Headquartered in Irvine, California, Tungsten Automation employs over 2,200 individuals across 32 countries.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Tungsten Automation reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on May 27, 2025, Tungsten Automation discovered suspicious activity in its internal IT network.¹ Following the discovery, Tungsten Automation began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. As of August 25, 2025, the type of information impacted in the breach has not been made publicly available by Tungsten Automation. ¹ However, according to California state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number, California identification card number, tax identification number, passport number, military identification number, or other unique identification number issued on a government document
- Account number or credit or debit card number, in combination with any required security code, access code, or password that would permit access to an individual’s financial account
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
- Unique biometric data, such as a fingerprint, retina, or iris image, used to authenticate a specific individual
- Genetic data
As a result of the data breach, on August 22, 2025, Tungsten Automation began providing notice to impacted individuals. Based on the notice sent to California residents, Tungsten Automation is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the breach report filed by the Attorney General of California is below.
