Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Commonwealth Business Bank (“CBB”) regarding its recent data breach. The CBB data breach involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Founded in 2005, CBB offers a variety of financial services to businesses and individuals, including SBA loans, commercial lending, checking and savings accounts, mobile banking, treasury management, banking forms, and more.3 Headquartered in Los Angeles, California, CBB has over ten locations in California and employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, CBB reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or around February 6, 2025, CBB became aware of suspicious activity affecting certain systems within its network.1 As a result, CBB launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, CBB confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party between January 25 and February 8, 2025. As a result, CBB began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Government issued ID number
- Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)
On August 13, 2025, CBB began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to California residents, CBB is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
