Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating CEI Vision Partners, LLC (CVP) regarding its recent data breach. The CVP data breach may have involved sensitive personal identifiable information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.
ABOUT CEI VISION PARTNERS, LLC:
CVP is a network of ophthalmology practices based in Ohio. Founded in 2015, CVP’s network comprises more than 300 ophthalmologists and over 700 optometrists across 18 states. 2 In 2021, EyeCare Partners acquired CVP. 2 Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, CVP employs over five thousand individuals.2
WHAT HAPPENED?
On August 12, 2025, CVP reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised.1 According to the breach notice, on May 26, 2024, CVP discovered unknown access to its computer network.1 As a result, CVP launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, CVP determined that an unauthorized third party accessed CVP computer systems between May 24 and May 27, 2024.1 As a result, CVP began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On June 10, 2025, CVP completed its investigation. According to the breach notice, the sensitive personal information potentially affected includes the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Financial account information
- Limited clinical information
- Health plan information
Recently, CVP began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, CVP is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
