WHAT HAPPENED?
On August 1, 2025, Langdon & Company announced that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised.1 According to the breach notice, on April 28, 2024, Langdon & Company discovered unusual activity on its network.1 As a result, Langdon & Company launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Langdon & Company determined that sensitive patient information of one of its clients, Easterseals North Carolina & Virginia, may have been taken from its network by an unauthorized third party between April 21 and April 28, 2024. 1 As a result, Langdon & Company began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. Langdon & Company’s findings were finalized and shared with Easterseals North Carolina & Virginia on June 3, 2025. According to the breach notice, the sensitive personal information potentially affected includes the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Address
- Taxpayer Identification number
- Financial account numbers
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
- Digital signatures
As a result of the breach, Langdon & Company will notify impacted individuals.
