Nova Recovery is an inpatient alcohol and drug rehab center based in Texas. Founded in 2011, Nova Recovery has a detox program, an inpatient rehab, an outpatient rehab, and sober living options all located in Austin, Texas.2,3 Headquartered in Wimberley, Texas, Nova Recovery employs over 50 individuals.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Nova Recovery reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on or about May 25, 2025, Nova Recovery’s IT and Security teams determined that certain systems hosted on the Nova Recovery network were subject to unauthorized access.1 As a result, Nova Recovery launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, on June 17, 2025, Nova Recovery learned that certain Nova Recovery business records stored in Nova Recovery’s network, including some records that contained personal information, were subject to unauthorized access.1 As a result, Nova Recovery began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On July 9, 2025, Nova Recovery completed its investigation. According to the breach notice, the sensitive personal information potentially affected includes the following types of information:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
- Date of birth
- Financial account information
Recently, Nova Recovery began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Nova Recovery is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
