NASCAR Data Breach Investigation

WHAT HAPPENED?

On July 24, 2025, NASCAR reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised.1,5 In the sample breach notice, NASCAR does not elaborate on the nature of the security incident that impacted its systems. According to the data breach report on the Massachusetts attorney general website, the information impacted is as follows:5

  • Name
  • Social Security number

 

Recently, NASCAR began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the notice sent to Massachusetts residents, NASCAR is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.1 A link to the breach report filed by the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is below.
