WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Distinctive Surfaces of Florida reported to the Attorney General of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on April 18, 2025, Distinctive Surfaces of Florida became aware of unusual activity on its network.1 As a result, Distinctive Surfaces of Florida launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Distinctive Surfaces of Florida determined that certain files on its network were accessed without authorization between April 1 and April 18, 2025.1 As a result, Distinctive Surfaces of Florida began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

- Social Security number
- Driver’s License
- Financial account information
On July 23, 2025, Distinctive Surfaces of Florida began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals.
