ISC is an insurance program administrator based in California. Founded in 2016, ISC provides insurance products and underwriting services through its end-to-end insurance platform.1,2 Today, ISC offers over 40 insurance programs in a variety of markets, including construction, property, hospitality, trucking, personal lines, healthcare, and more.3 Headquartered in Carlsbad, California, ISC has two additional locations in California and Texas, and employs over 200 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, ISC reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, ISC recently detected suspicious activity in a portion of its environment that it determined to be a security incident.1 As a result, ISC launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, ISC confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between February 16 and February 19, 2025. As a result, ISC began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Tax identification number
- Driver’s license number or other government ID number
- Biometric data (e.g., fingerprint image or similar)
- Medical information in connection with an insurance application or claim
On June 18, 2025, ISC began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to California residents, ISC is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
