Founded in 1995, Bluegrass offers a variety of dairy-based and daily alternative ingredients, including cheese powders, seasoning blends, dairy pastes, concentrated slurries, and functional dairy replacements.2, 3 Today, Bluegrass supplies products to customers across the United States.2 Headquartered in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Bluegrass employs over 100 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Bluegrass reported to the Attorney General of Maine that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on November 9, 2024, Bluegrass became aware of suspicious activity in its network.1 As a result, Bluegrass launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Bluegrass confirmed that an unauthorized actor gained access to Bluegrass’s network between November 5 and November 10, 2024, and copied certain files. As a result, Bluegrass began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. Bluegrass completed this review on June 6, 2025. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On or about June 25, 2025, Bluegrass began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Bluegrass is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
