WHAT HAPPENED?
On June 4, 2025, Clarity Group reported to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on January 16, 2025, Clarity Group identified suspicious emails being sent from two employee’s email addresses.1 As a result, Clarity Group launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, on May 7, 2025, Clarity Group confirmed that an unauthorized threat actor accessed two employee email mailboxes between January 9 and January 16, 2025.1 As a result, Clarity Group began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
On June 4, 2025, Clarity Group began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Clarity Group is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
