WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Gilman Hill reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on April 4, 2025, Gilman Hill learned of a vulnerability in CrushFTP, its file transfer software for communicating some client information. 1 In response, Gilman Hill launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Gilman Hill confirmed that sensitive personal information may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between March 29 and April 1, 2025.1 As a result, Gilman Hill began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account information
As a result of the data breach, Gilman Hill ceased use of CrushFTP and is providing affected individuals with two years of complementary access to credit monitoring service. A link to the form breach notification that Gilman Hill sent to the Attorney General of Vermont is listed below.
