Manning, Fulton & Skinner Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Manning, Fulton & Skinner, P.A. (“Manning Fulton”) regarding its recent data breach. The Manning Fulton data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

Founded in 1954, Manning Fulton offers legal services in a variety of practice areas, including commercial real estate, condemnation and eminent domain, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, employment and employee benefits, franchise and distribution law, healthcare law, wills, trusts, and estate planning.2 Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, Manning Fulton has an additional location in Durham, North Carolina, and employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Manning Fulton reported to the Attorney General of New Hampshire that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, Manning Fulton recently became aware of suspicious activity within its email environment.1 As a result, Manning Fulton launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Manning Fulton discovered that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party through multiple employee email accounts between September 19, 2024, and February 6, 2025. As a result, Manning Fulton began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On May 7, 2025, Manning Fulton completed this review. The exact type of personal information potentially exposed has not been made publicly available by Manning Fulton. However, according to state reporting guidelines, “personal information” can include the following types of information:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license or other government identification number
  • Account number, credit or debit card number, in combination with any required security code, access code, or password that would permit access to an individual’s financial account

 

On May 29, 2025, Manning Fulton began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to New Hampshire residents, Manning Fulton is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
