Bradford Health Services Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Bradford Health Services (“Bradford”) regarding its recent data breach. The Bradford data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT BRADFORD HEALTH SERVICES:

Bradford is a healthcare provider based in Alabama. Founded in 1977, Bradford specializes in drug and alcohol rehab, offering a continuum of care that includes inpatient care, detox, extended care, PHP, IOP, outpatient, education, and continuing care.2 Additionally, Bradford provides specialty programs to better match a patient’s professional requirements, such as its Healthcare Professionals Program, Legal and Business Professionals Program, Aviation Professional Program, and more.3 Headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, Bradford operates over 28 addiction treatment facilities throughout the United States, and employs over 1,000 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, Bradford announced that the sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on December 8, 2023, Bradford detected unusual activity within its network.1 As a result, Bradford launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, Bradford confirmed that sensitive personal information may have been accessed and acquired by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, Bradford began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
  • Driver’s license number
  • Passport numbers
  • Financial account numbers
  • Payment card numbers plus a means of access to the account
  • Medical information (e.g., diagnosis and treatment information, physician names, and Medical Record numbers)
  • Health insurance information

 

On May 30, 2025, Bradford posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, on the same date, Bradford began sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, Bradford is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted.
