Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating MDG Design and Construction LLC (“MDG”) regarding its recent data breach. The MDG data breach involved sensitive personal information and protected health information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

MDG is an affordable housing-only contracting and developing firm based out of New York. Founded in 1988, MDG specializes in the rehabilitation and new construction of affordable residential apartment buildings.2 Headquartered in Woodbury, New York, MDG employees over 100 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, MDG reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on April 25, 2025, MDG became aware of suspicious activity related to certain computer systems following a ransomware attack.1 As a result, MDG launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, MDG confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party during the breach. As a result, MDG began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license or other government issued ID card numbers (e.g., individual taxpayer ID number, passport number, military ID card number)
- Financial account number or credit or debit card number
- Health records
- Health insurance information
On May 28, 2025, MDG began mailing notice to affected individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, MDG will be providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and credit monitoring services.
