WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, LNRS reported to the Attorney General of Maine that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on April 1, 2025, LNRS became aware of unauthorized activity on its computer network.1 As a result, LNRS launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, LNRS confirmed that sensitive personal information in its third-party platform used for software development was accessed and acquired by unauthorized actors on December 25, 2024.1 As a result, LNRS began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Contact information (such as phone number, postal or email address)
- Driver’s license number
On May 24, 2025, LNRS began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, LNRS is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
