Apro is an independent owner, supplier and operator of gas stations and convenience stores on the west coast operating under the name “Rocket”.3 Founded in 1955, Apro provides customers with rest locations, gas, convenience items, car washes, Amazon lockers, and delivery services. Today, Apro also has a mobile app for in-app payments, rewards, and a store finder.2 Headquartered in Long Beach, California, Apro employs over 3,500 individuals, and holds locations in Washington, Oregon, as well as Colorado.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Apro reported to the Attorney General of California that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. According to the breach notice, on March 22, 2025, Apro discovered that an unauthorized third party accessed certain Apro systems.1 As a result, Apro launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
On May 9, 2025, Apro confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed by an unauthorized third party between February 20 and March 2, 2025.1 As a result, Apro began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Address
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Income and tax withholdings
As a result of the data breach, on May 23, 2025, Apro began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to California residents, Apro is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
