MBE CPAs Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating MBE CPA’s, LLC (“MBE”) regarding its recent data breach. The MBE data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT MBE CPAS, LLC:

MBE is a tax and accounting firm located in Baraboo, Wisconsin. As CPAs, MBE advisors specialize in valuations, mergers, and acquisitions, business consulting, accounting, audit services, and more.2 Founded in 1982, MBE has served the agricultural business, audiology, construction, manufacturing, and real estate industries for over 30 years. Today, MBE has 13 locations across the United States and employs approximately 170 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, MBE reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that the sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been compromised. In the sample breach notice provided to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, MBE does not elaborate on the nature of the security incident that impacted its systems. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Account number
  • Account type
  • Routing number

 

On May 12, 2025, MBE began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, MBE is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
