WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Legends filed with the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed.1 According to the breach notice, on November 9, 2024, Legends became aware of unauthorized activity occurring on their IT systems.1 As a result, Legends launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Legends confirmed that certain Legends files had been accessed and acquired during the .1 As a result, Legends began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted, as well as identify specific individuals affected. While the information taken varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially at risk includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Financial account information
On April 15, 2025, Legends began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Massachusetts residents, Legends is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 24 months of complimentary identity protection services.
