AOD Federal Credit Union Data Breach Investigation

Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating AOD Federal Credit Union (“AOD”) regarding its recent data breach. The AOD data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to an undetermined number of individuals.

ABOUT AOD FEDERAL CREDIT UNION:

AOD is a member owned financial cooperative based in Alabama. Since its founding in 1950, AOD has grown to six offices located throughout Anniston, Jacksonville and Oxford with more than 420 select employer groups and 7-ATM locations throughout Calhoun County, Alamaba.2 Today, AOD offers a variety of financial services and products, including checking and savings accounts, credit cards, mortgages, auto and personal loans, insurance products, and digital banking services.3 Headquartered in Oxford, Alabama, AOD employs over 50 individuals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, AOD reported to the Attorney General of Vermont that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on or about August 9, 2024, AOD detected unauthorized access to its network.1 As a result, AOD launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, on March 4, 2025, AOD confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between August 8 and August 9, 2024. As a result, AOD began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Driver’s license number
  • Financial information (e.g., account number, credit or debit card number)

In March 2025, AOD began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Vermont residents, AOD is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services. A link to the form breach notification letters that AOD filed with the Attorney General of Vermont is below.
