Strauss Borrelli PLLC, a leading data breach law firm, is investigating Cross Valley Federal Credit Union (“Cross Valley”) regarding its recent data breach. The Cross Valley data breach involved sensitive personal information belonging to approximately 17,000 individuals.

Cross Valley is a credit union based in Pennsylvania. Founded in 1969, Cross Valley offers a variety of financial services and products, including checking accounts, debit and credit cards, auto and personal loans, home and student lending, investment services, insurance solutions, and digital banking services. Today, Cross Valley manages over $220 million in assets and has nearly 18,000 members.3 Headquartered in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Cross Valley has five additional branch locations in Pennsylvania and employs over 50 individuals.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Cross Valley reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its care may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on December 4, 2024, Cross Valley discovered a suspicious activity on its network. 1 As a result, Cross Valley launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Cross Valley confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems belonging to members may have been compromised on or around November 19, 2024. As a result, Cross Valley began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Address
On March 13, 2025, Cross Valley began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Cross Valley is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
