WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, CBI International reported to the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its care may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, CBI International recently discovered that it had experienced a cyber-attack.1 As a result, CBI International launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, CBI International confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party on January 22, 2025, after hackers accessed CBI International’s physical servers in Miami.1 As a result, CBI International began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Physical address
- Email address
- Bank account numbers
- Taxpayer identification number
As a result of the data breach, CBI International provided initial notice to impacted individuals via email.
