Today, Title Nine offers a variety of clothing items and styles, including bikinis, tankinis, swim shorts, run and hiking shorts, leggings, pants, tanks, workout tops, and sports bras.2 Headquartered in Emeryville, California, Title Nine has retail stores in California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Texas, Washington, Colorado, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota, and employs over 200 individuals.3
WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Title Nine reported to the Attorney General of Maine that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on November 8, 2024, Title Nine became aware of suspicious activity on its systems.1 As a result, Title Nine launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Title Nine confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party between November 2 and November 8, 2024. As a result, Title Nine began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Contact information
On February 21, 2025, Title Nine began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Maine residents, Title Nine is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
