WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Prizm Media reported to the Attorney General of Washington that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on or around July 3, 2023, Prizm Media was alerted to suspicious activity in an employee email account.1 As a result, Prizm Media launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Prizm Media confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been compromised by an unauthorized third party through an employee’s email account between April 28, 2023, and July 4, 2023. As a result, Prizm Media began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. On September 26, 2024, Prizm Media completed this review. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Date of birth
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
On January 30, 2025, Prizm Media began mailing data breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the breach notice sent to Washington residents, Prizm Media is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
