WHAT HAPPENED?
Recently, Galliker’s announced that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information and protected health information in its systems may have been accessed and acquired. According to the breach notice, on June 23, 2024, Galliker’s became aware of suspicious activity on its third-party hosted, cloud-based environment.1 As a result, Galliker’s launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
Through its investigation, Galliker’s confirmed that sensitive personal information belonging to current and former employees in its systems may have been viewed and taken by an unauthorized third party between June 23 and June 24, 2024. As a result, Galliker’s began a review of the data to determine what information had been impacted as well as identify the specific individuals affected. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Financial account information
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
- Username and password
As a result of the data breach, Galliker’s posted a notice of the incident on its website. Additionally, Galliker’s has begun sending breach notification letters to impacted individuals. Based on the website breach notice, Galliker’s is providing affected individuals with a list of the specific types of sensitive information impacted and complimentary credit monitoring services.
