MIG is a mortgage lender based in Tennessee. Founded in 1989, MIG offers a variety of home loans, including conventional, refinancing, USDA, FHA, THDA, and VA.2 Additionally, MIG offers tailored loan solutions such as first-time home buyer programs, non-QM loans, HELOCs, rate buydowns, and reverse mortgages.2 Headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, MIG employs over 300 individuals across its 26 locations in the south-eastern United States.

WHAT HAPPENED?

Recently, MIG posted notice on its website that it had experienced a data breach in which sensitive personal identifiable information in its systems may have been accessed. According to the breach notice, on December 12, 2024, MIG discovered a breach of its network. 1 As a result, MIG launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.

Through its investigation, MIG confirmed that sensitive personal information in its systems may have been accessed or exfiltrated by an unauthorized third party on December 11, 2024. Beyond this, the MIG breach notice does not elaborate on the nature of the security incident that impacted its systems. While the information impacted varies depending on the individual, the type of information potentially exposed includes:

  • Name
  • Financial information

 

As a result of the breach, MIG posted notice on its website. Based on the website notice, MIG will mail affected individuals when the investigation is complete. A link to the form breach notification on the MIG website is below.
